The joy of the Lord
Nehemiah 8:10
Then he said to them, "Go your way. Eat the fat and drink the sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength."
For those who find joy in the Lord will never be downtrodden, they will stumble but the Lord will lift them up. They will suffer sadness but the joy of the Lord will lift them from their troubles and fill them with the Holy Spirit.
Paul says "For I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." I think that is because he has the joy of the Lord within him. He knows that no matter what may befall him, no matter what is happening around him or to him, the Lord will never fail him.
How can you not be filled with joy when you understand and believe that this is true?

ReplyDelete...our 12 year old granddaughter has a rare oral cancer, she is only the second child known to have this cancer. She was heavily sedated for a week after a 12 hour surgery. As she came to, a nurse asked if she wanted her to read for her. Her response was, the 18th Psalm. I doubt if she knew the psalm, but it was appropriate given the situation!.
